Deciding to move to the city a decade ago, Mackenzie has been blessed with opportunities to grow and deepen her love of the arts. She knew NYC was where she wanted to be after graduating from University of North Carolina School of the Arts with a BFA in contemporary dance and choreography. In those years she danced for several companies and choreographers including H. T. Chen and Dancers, Fly-by-night Dance Theater, Brice Mousset, Belinda McGuire, and Ruth Barnes. She also shared in the successes of her twin sister's dance company 87 Dance Productions as a performer and choreographer. Feeding her need to experience and learn other exciting ways to express her creativity and physicality, Mackenzie is also an aerial artist. She has been lucky to train with many wonderful coaches most notably: Bobby Hedglin-Taylor, Ivo Gueorguiev, Laura Witwer, Kristin Olness and Benn Mendoza. As a teacher, she looks forward to sharing her knowledge and passion of aerial arts and dance. She has been given the opportunity to share in many settings from private studios to colleges. Over the last couple years while on a brief hiatus from dance, Mackenzie added singing to her arts repertoire. A musician since childhood, Mackenzie has enjoyed the challenge of learning a new skill, has performed on stage, and looks forward to new opportunities to perform songs from the jazz and R&B greats.
