Owner and Creative Director
Founder, Owner, and Artistic director of the Bridge for Dance, Inc., Kim LaRue holds an M.A. in Dance and Dance Education from Teachers College Columbia University. She has been on the faculties of Teachers College Columbia University Creative Arts Laboratory, Steps on Broadway, and 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Center. She currently teaches at The Ailey School Professional Division and also serves as Guest Artist in Residence for Westchester Pubilc Schools.
Ms. LaRue finds that by giving students opportunities to explore or examine subjects through their kinesthetic and sensory modalities, they become more invested in their studies. Her background includes performance and choreography for numerous musical theater productions, character roles in ballet productions, improvisational performance projects in museums, galleries, and commercial choreography for special events in Texas and New York.
Ms. LaRue has worked with dancers and actors throughout the United States, Europe, and Mexico. She served as producer of the Uptown Performance Series, a venue for choreographers and dancers, in addition to directing the Young Dancers Contemporary Rhythms / Jazz-Tap Ensemble for 10 years, leading their rehearsals and performances across many events in the New York City area.
Currently Ms. LaRue works with her company, New York City Dance Collaborative, creating innovative works collaboratively with her dancers. The company rehearses in New York City and has performed at cultural events in Mexico.
