MARY SIX RUPERT

Mary Six Rupert was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. She started studying tap at the age of 2 and started teaching at 14. Later she opened her own dance academy called Dance Discovery where she taught and choreographed tap, jazz and ballet. After running her academy for three years she moved to Los Angeles to teach, study and perform at a professional level. Focusing on performing in live theater, she made a move to New York. Her New York teaching included The Juilliard School, Steps 74, Broadway Dance Center and her international teaching opportunities included Vienna, Paris and Bayreuth, Germany. Mary Six’s performing career included the International Tour of 42 St., My One and Only with Harold Nicholas, Can Can with Chita Rivera, and Gypsy with Rita Moreno. She also performed as a Radio City Rockette for 13 years culminating with a position as Assistant to the Director (Joe Layton) and Choreographer (Maurice Hines), and Dance Captain for the most recent Rockette national tour. The highlight of her dance career was the opportunity to perform a tap duet with Harold Nicholas (of the famed Nicholas Brothers) at the London Palladium.
